Scunthorpe Promoter Rob Godfrey gave the go-ahead for his Saints side to enter the National League for 2010 at yesterday’s league AGM. After the meeting he claimed “I was encouraged by some of what was said today. Sadly not much can happen for 2010 but I’m hopeful that the league might move in the right direction next winter. Unfortunately we look like having to use one or two assets of other clubs to be competitive next season but we still hope to have plenty of young talent in our line-up.”
Saints Team Manager, Malcolm Vasey (pictured), who also attended the meeting, confirmed his delight at finally getting the go-ahead for 2010. “Naturally I’m overjoyed that the Saints will be entering the National League this season. I can now start work in earnest on building the side and hopefully we can start to announce some signings soon”. At present it is expected that all Saints home meetings will form the second part of double-header meetings with the first set for Easter Monday. Subsequent home meetings are also expected to take place on the three Monday bank holidays and after the two Sunday fixtures for the Scorpions.
