25.07.09: Disappointment at Fours Final |
| After an encouraging display at Edinburgh on Friday night the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions failed to reproduce the same kind of form last night as they dropped out of the Premier League Fours at the semi-final stage. The meeting started in the worst possible way with all four Scorpions’ riders finishing last in their first race. However, a race win each from David Howe and Magnus Karlsson gave some hope before Carl Wilkinson twice made the gate in heat 7. It was called back on both occasions but at the third time of asking Wilkinson failed to make a good start and Edinburgh and Rye House were left to fight it out for the second spot in the final behind group winners Workington. |

24.07.09: Scorpions rue home loss |
| The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions produced another creditable away performance last night, going down 52-43 in the second leg of the Premier Trophy semi-final at Edinburgh, but were left ruing the 46-44 loss in the home leg which means Edinburgh progress to the final where they will face the King’s Lynn Stars. Leading the Scorpions scoring was Magnus Karlsson who racked up 17 points after returning to the side after injury. He won four of his five rides and received strong support from Simon Lambert, Carl Wilkinson and David Howe. |

24.07.09: Saints edged out by King’s Lynn |
| On a greasy track, after early evening rain, the Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints lost the first leg of their National League Knockout Cup Quarter-final at the Eddie Wright Raceway last night. They went down 43-47 to the King’s Lynn Barracudas with Craig Cook, guesting for Simon Lambert, top scoring with thirteen points. There were solid contributions down the order but Scott Richardson suffered with bike problems all night and the Barracudas will be strong favourites when the second leg takes place at the Norfolk Arena next Friday night. |

23.07.09: Saints looking for first leg lead |
| Whilst the Scorpions are on their travels the action at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight sees the National League Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints take on the King’s Lynn Barracudas in a Knockout Cup Quarter-final. With the Barracudas excellent home form the Saints are hoping to build a sizable lead to take to the Norfolk Arena next Friday, 31st July, for the second leg but, with Simon Lambert and Byron Bekker in Premier League action, plus James Sarjeant still out injured, the Saints’ Team Manager, Malcolm Vasey, has drafted in guest rider, Workington Comets’ Craig Cook, to lead the side whilst former Edinburgh Monarch Sean Stoddart makes his home debut after being defeated by just one Mildenhall rider in Sunday’s away win against the Suffolk side. |
