Jerran Hart, the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions’ reserve, has suffered three broken bones after crashing in the Scorpions’ meeting at Redcar on Thursday. He has a broken wrist, broken ankle and sliced heel bone after Redcar’s Charles Wright careered into him and sent him over the safety fence. He is currently in hospital at Middlesbrough but is hoping to return to his home town of Ipswich on Saturday before having an operation. The 19-year old’s season is over but everyone at the club wishes Jerran a speedy recovery and hopes to see him back on board a bike for the 2011 season.
20.08.10: Scorpions back with a bang
Last night the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions returned to action at the Eddie Wright Raceway after three weeks without a home meeting and roared to an emphatic 57-34 victory over the Redcar Bears. Leading the way were the middle-order duo of Tero Aarnio and Carl Wilkinson who both recorded maximums whilst David Howe and Magnus Karlsson were defeated just once by an opposition rider.
19.08.10: Hart’s season over
Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions’ teenage reserve Jerran Hart crashed out of last night’s Premier League clash at Redcar and initial prognosis suggest his injuries are season-ending. With a break near his left wrist and concern that his right leg may also be broken he is set to undergo further x-rays at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The injuries occurred in heat 9 of last night’s clash when Redcar’s Charles Wright careered into the side of Hart and sent him flying over the safety fence and into the pits.
18.08.10: Scorpions go Bear hunting
The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions travel to Teesside on Thursday night hoping to repeat their Premier Trophy defeat of the Redcar Bears. The Scorpions won 48-42 back in April and Promoter Rob Godfrey believes his side should be looking for a repeat performance. “There is no doubt we have the riders to do the job at Redcar and we should be looking to extend their losing streak. They are going to finish adrift at the bottom of the league and have little to race for whilst an away win could be just the key to us being able to pick our opponent in the Young Shield.”
